Be Who You Are

< align="center"> be who you are

< align="center"> be who you are (detail)
I feel its finished.....one of the paintings I've been working on. Be Who You Are...starring the drawing of my favourite dress, lots of texture, some lace and lace imprints, collaged paper and a page from a 1930's book called The School Girls Annual. The writing is about looking your best, and even in the 1930's the article was encourage women to find their own style instead of following the trend. This happily resonated with me and fitted well with the theme of the painting. It is heading off to an exhibition at the end of next month. I loved creating this piece it seemed to ignite the freedom within me and I felt a real sense of letting go and allowing the mediums to do their own thing....

< align="center">moon daisy, grow with me

Almost finished, just a little time to see if there is anything else to add or adjust...Moon Daisy, Grow with Me.

I enjoyed trying something a little different although it felt totally scared gluing on original drawings...what if something happened to them? what if the ink runs? what happens if I get paint of them? what happens if the medium is lumpy underneath? I took a deep breath and reminded myself that whatever happened was part of the creative process and trusted that it is all as its meant to be...mis~ takes and all. And this trust wasn't misplaced....I am delighted with the risk I took.Frightening and exciting at the same time, how else do you get to grow as an artist or a person if you don't take risks, experiment and move through the 'what ifs?'

a gentle reminder

a reminder to anyone who is thinking about doing a journalling class with me...there are still opportunities for next weekend at Janets Art, Maryborough. An all day workshop where I'll share lots of background techniques, how to make a start on the first page, go with your intuition and let go of perfection. To make a booking you can call Janet on 41231117 or for further details
you can go to my website.

I feel like I've been painting all week....finished a commission and made a start on 4 paintings. I don't usually work this way, I like to get one completed before I start the next, but it felt right so I'll go with it, see where it takes me. I'm a little weary from all the out put, so today I might concentrate on filling my well again....thank you for reminding me to look after myself Jude.

my little houses with a tick

< align=" centre"> collection of houses

I finally have them finished. My little houses for the Creative Soul Retreat in March, Melbourne. It was fun setting up a production line, something I don't do very often. I love that they are still unique in there own way. I painted each house with graduating colour, sanding back the edges to give an aged feel and then stamped them with an imprint I've made from lace. The image of the heart is one of my favourites, I use it often and it came from a painting I did a few years ago. All the houses are embellished with buttons, beads and curly wire.

Now that I have these finished I can focus on getting supplies together and the finer details of going. I never used to make lists, but I've found them mighty handy since I've discovered how much more organized I can be when I do use them.

Here is to another thing to tick off my list.

Trusting the Process

< align ="center">dress drawing

I've been a bit quite on the blogging front of late. I've been doing some inner work, clearing some old 'stories' attached to memories. It feels like I'm clearing out my inner closet of old stuff, getting rid of limiting belief that no longer serve me. and I guess only time will tell if I'm running the same old patterns again. and although it is challenging to do, moving myself with soul direction is one of my favourite things to do...... and there has been some art production in there too.

I drew this the other afternoon, you know, my favourite dress. It started out as a quick sketch in my journal whilst helping my daughter with her homework. I was able to draw back into it later on. I'm exhibiting in an artshow soon and want to show new work. So with a change of perspective and trust I've cut out this original image and worked it into a painting. (shall take a painting over the weekend to share with you) I was a little hesitant about about gluing on the original drawing.....I could have used a copy. But then its not really an all original painting is it?And for the art show I felt that it was important. Anyway I've worked through it and it feels good.

sending love to heal

what do you say when there is such chaos going on for some of our fellow Australians? Fire tearing through one end of our great nation and floods at the other.....
may you see opportunity in diversity
may there be gifts of love from another
may there be comfort in your quiet moments
may the bigger picture become clear.......
