My Website..is ready, set, go!

Yes, yes...my website is ready to go. So I'm extending a warm invitation for you to come and visit.
There will be new creative goodies uploaded as the inspiration comes to me, so please stay tuned. ...enjoy your viewing.

sun in gemini

With the sun in gemini it is the perfect time be versatile and curious. The sun can give energy to stimulate the mind, great for learning and have a good old laugh. Gemini is also about communication, so you may want to observe what you are saying at the moment and if you have the ability to listen...its a very logical energy.

Sometimes if this energy is coming from the ego there can be interruptions, being inattentive and talking lots.

How does this play out in your artwork? Well you may enjoy using lots of words, having humour as part of the essence or just enjoy conveying a message.Or you may find there is lots going on with your imagery with little focus, perhaps a bit scattered...to begin the process of change, start by becoming aware.

truth from my heart

whilst getting images ready for my website i found a number of paintings that i hadn't uploaded anywhere...almost like i rediscovered them. i know it sounds strange, but that is the truth of it. and i still have the original painting too. this one was featured on the front of a spiritual magazine. i very rarely frame my paintings, this is one of the exceptions.

artist appreciating natural beauty

Pink Emperor II
Gum Moth (wall panel)

Annemeike Mein. I remember the first time I saw her work. It was when I was studying Year 11 textiles, and I was blown away but the amount of detail and texture that was captured by her passionate stitching. Absolutely incredible. It really was awe inspiring. Only recently did this memory come back to me, when I saw her book for sale at Stampington.

For me Annemeike Mein's textile sculptures are a pivotal example of an artist expressing her appreciation for the natural beauty that surrounds us. Have you ever seen a moth look so beautiful? I read that some of her works are in public places, and that you are encouraged to touch them! Oh sensory delight! My fingers are tingling!

A little bit of history about Annemeike Mein. She was born in Holland, and moved to Australia as a child. She loved to draw and collect butterflies, dragon flies and other fascinating insects. At school she was encouraged to explore lots of different mediums. I guess alot has happened in between but she is now regarded as one of the worlds leading textile artists. You can see that she draws on the beauty of nature for her inspiration. Preservation and awareness are one of her most motivating influences.

"Through my textiles, whether sculptures, wall works, or 'wearables,' I hope to make people more aware of our native species while expressing my love and concern for our native environment".

And I sense that passion in her tactile works. She is definitely an artist who has inspired me to create more tactileness in my art.

the creative surf's up!

yesterday i watched 'surf's up' with my son. i have to say it was a good movie.one of the most intriguing parts i found was in the bonus features. learning how they made the movie and the new technology and thought/ideas that went into producing it.
i also loved the bonus material on 'surfing like a pro'. for me it was so related to creating art that i jotted down these notes to share with you....

So how do you surf like a pro? Or create like a Master?

(according to surfs up)

  • choose you board, medium or type of expression
  • build confidence by practicing
  • watch your environment and others
  • get centred and find balance
  • dig deep and get momentum
  • it gets easier as you go along, and it can be hard to start
  • put the effort in to get going....then ride the wave
  • don't consciously think, pop up even if you are in fear
  • once you've caught the wave most of the hard work is done- just harness the energy and go with it.
  • let the wave do the work
  • go with the flow and don't force it.

then came the good stuff about WiPinG OUt!

  • if you are not wiping out you are not having fun.
  • just part of the experience
  • relax and go with it
  • don't give up, get out there again
  • go with the energy and enjoy the ride!

what makes a great surfer? artist?

  • having the most fun, loving it
  • be connected to be wave, the feeling
  • not having high or low expectations
  • just experience it.

WOW, for me that just popped off so many sparks about being in the creative process. and i loved the fact that wiping out is such an accepted part of surfing...just like some creative adventure that didn't quite go to plan. it's all part of it. the fun of it, if we chose to see it that way.

soul rewards

Thank you to every one who left a Soul Message. i placed all the names together in a bowl and got quite for a minute, body mind and soul. this is the name that came out. Amy from Lone Star Art. Congratulations! The painting will soon be on its way to Texas in the States.

A huge thanks and hugs to you all. This has been the most amazing challenge for me also. I have learnt so much about communication through setting up this challenge and setting the intention ....on so many levels.

My message to the world is a quote from Ashtara. it is one that i didn't understand until the end of this challenge.

True communication is the response we receive.

I now understand and am very aware that when i communicate with anger, i receive anger. if i communicate with uncertainty, i receive uncertainty. if i communicate with warmth, i receive warmth. and when i communicate with Love i receive love. wow.

i am so excited to share this painting....i created it for my mum for mothers day. we are just about to leave and travel 4 hours to stay with my parents over the weekend. but i had to get to my blog before i left. i've also made some cards with a similar image on it, so i'll finish and post them when i get home on monday afternoon.we have a long weekend here so it is a perfect weekend to visit. although i'm not looking forward to that crisp mountain air, the company is definitely worth the journey.

the photo in this image was taken by my loving husband. my hands holding a nest full of love and nurturing.a perfect and symbolic image for the love i have for my mum. and 4 kisses..
