How about you?

postcards
a late night shot of my postcard sets

Tonight I'm finishing off, labeling and feeling at peace that my creative goodies have come together.it feels so good to be listening to my inspiration and ideas. I've found display boxes and vintage 'things' that are just perfect to hold all this goodness. Setting up a table to see how things sit with each other has been the best thing. I can see what works and what doesn't.....

Tomorrow afternoon I'm setting up a table for a 'Girls Night In' in support of Breast CancerAwareness at my local Curves Gym. I'm looking forward to seeing how my new goodies shall be received and how scrumptious my table looks. Truly I'm thrilled with how its happened in such a serendipitous way.

Girls a little side note on Breast Cancer....I've been told that the funds raised are making a difference. This difference is being seen in a greater number of women recovering. And thats wonderful. We're seeing our nation supporting Breast Cancer Awareness with footy teams wearing pink, cricket teams playing with pink, pink beards, bikers doing rides in pink even etsy put together a pink treasury.....there is definitely greater awareness in our community.

Please excuse me while I jump on my soap box for a moment. for me, when it comes down to it, we can wear all the pink we like but girls we got be responsible for our own boobs! Nothing's going to change unless we check ourselves regularly. its up to us. prevention is better than cure. and I'm making that commitment to myself. How 'bout you?

gliding into the joy

glide

'Glide' matted Print
soon to be available on www.bubuBlossom.com

Its coming together.Maybe I could take my own advice a glide a little more. The things I've ordered on line are turning up at my doorstep. Ideas are making their way into reality. And my overwhelm has been kept at bay.

Today is the time to start using my ice resin from dearest Jen. I'm finishing off some jewellery pieces. I'm not sure why I think I can make things I've never tried before, but there is nothing like a date to work towards to get this creative juju moving.

The next 11 days (who's counting?) shall see me with more creative goodies completed for the Christmas Art Show . I'm so looking forward to spending some time with Jo. She has kindly opened her heart and home to me.

I'm feeling good about this direction. Its taken its time to put all the puzzle pieces together but it feels like I am on the right track. and I'm happy. its nearly time for me to share this joy, not long now.

aspiration, inspiration + motivation

motivation

A journal page I created a couple of years ago, came to my mind this morning. When I created it I didn't fully understand what it meant. It just kind of came to me.

After pushing through to create some goodies and paintings for the Art Fair, my motivation has slowed. It is part of the process when working towards an event. The challenge then is to find what works to keep the momentum going. For me, this time, it was playing with some new materials.I'm feeling so inspired this morning, I've been up early checking out how my new idea can come together. I've had my gas torch out, wrapping wire to create an amazing jewellery piece. It feels like its working.

Now I'm feeling inspired and motivated to create a range to have ready for the fair. Can't wait to get home from work today to continue. Love to share with you when I have a piece completed. I'm back on the inspired path and its great!

Painting by the Pool

pupil free day

Sound exotic? Blissful Paradise? An Artists Dream? Its kind of more like a circus.....I'm being inventive with my time. A pupil free day today and 16 days 'til the Xmas Art Fair, sees me feeling a little anxious about getting stuff done. So I've been by the pool trying to get this one finished, with my 10 year old asking me to count her backwards somersaults, a dog waiting patiently by the pool fence because he's rolled his ball into the water...and he wants it back! and our 12 yr has the radio on with some sort of music that I really don't relate to (must be showing my age) ...and I'm painting. Doesn't get any more real than that!

Harvest Textiles

Check out this inspiring Melbourne arty textile biz. Harvest Textiles. They have some neat stuff going with on with classes, screen printed fabrics and related products and guest speakers. That's what caught my eye... their guest speaker, Clara Vuletich spoke about Upcycling textiles (check out their blog). If I was in Melbourne I would have been there. With bells on!

feeling loved

birthday pic

So how did I celebrate my birthday? With loads of love! and a big flower. I had a magical day with sunshine and birthday wishes from around the globe. Thank you everyone, I do feel blessed to be a part of such an amazingly caring community.

I felt spoilt with gifts, beautiful food, great company, some pink bubbles in the afternoon and heart felt conversations. What more could I want on my special day? Thank you, I know this year is going to be the best yet.....

Valentino Retrospective

Yes it was amazing...truly. It was well worth the early morning and the 4hr journey there. We had a guided tour, which I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to know more about Valentino and his divine craft of haute couture , which I learnt means high sewing. All of V's garments are ALL hand sewn. Every piece. And none of them have price tags under 6 figures, not that those figures are ever revealed.

No picture taking allowed but you can see the collection on this site at the Brisbane Times, I was kind of hoping...these pics I took were in the middle of the exhibition were there was a timeline and a number of dvd's to watch that included runway shows and V's movie

and a number of V's book to look through while sitting. Exquisite.

There were 95 garments to take in, all amazing artworks in their own rights. I would highly recommend this exhibition to anyone interested in fabric or fashion and feel fortunate that I was able to see some of V's collection up close and personal.

Tomorrow I am taking myself to Brissie to see Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future. Can't wait to see all those textures, fabrics and sweeping designs. Divine. I'm jumping on a bus and travelling with a local gallery group. I'm also looking forward to some quite bus time, maybe even catch up on some sleep?

Fabric textures and patterns have always been a source of inspiration, so even the thought of seeing this designers couture is making my heart beat. Truly feels like it might be soul filling.

ps. I hear that Wini is coming up from Melbourne to see this exhibition this weekend, maybe I'll bump into her, wouldn't that be cool?

Big hair

model Kalia, photographer Barrie Blau

Spring is upon all of us in the Southern Hemisphere and it is warming up. The kids and I have had our first swim of the season, whilst the other half of world is heading into Autumn and the celebration of Halloween. Its not a big tradition in Australia, although I'm sure there are Halloween parties held. Aussies do love a good party!

I've been enjoying the etsy finds with Halloween costumes. You know I LOVE big hair so when I spied these wig artists I had to share them with you.
